It’s February 29! It’s Leap Year! It’s only once every 4 years, so surely this is a reason to celebrate. This occurrence is officially called a quadrennial… so, it seems like a perfect excuse to Leap onto the dance floor at the Dennos Museum Center, in Traverse City and enjoy this celebratory night of great music, sassy dance moves, and a really unforgettable February. You must be 21 to attend and tickets are only $ 10.00. While you’re there, be sure to check out the Museum’s signature collection of Inuit art of the Canadian Arctic – it is one of the largest and most historically complete collections of these distinctive sculptures and prints in the United States.

Have you ever considered a family walk in the moonlight? The 850 acres of Pierce Cedar Creek Institute in Hastings are calling you to bask in the beauty of February’s full moon, – tonight from 6:30- 8:30 p.m. Imagine an evening that is filled with solitude, and the quiet, peaceful sounds of winter under the ‘snow moon’. Maybe you will hear the sounds of little critters scurrying about, or the soft hoot of an owl. If you have little ones consider the half mile loop, or go for the one-and-a half-mile candlelit trail loop that weaves through prairies, forests and wetlands. Afterwards, make new friends around a toasty fire warming your hands with hot drinks and tasty sweets. You can also rent snowshoes, provided snow conditions are right.
