Jennifer Sistrunk, Executive Director of the South Haven/Van Buren County Convention & Visitors Bureau, was recognized as the CVB Star of the Year by the Michigan Restaurant and Lodging Association (MRLA) on Thursday, November 9th.

The MRLA held their annual Stars of the Industry Awards at Saint John’s Resort in Plymouth,
MI, highlighting outstanding leaders in the hospitality industry throughout the state of Michigan.
According to the MRLA, award recipients “have demonstrated professionalism and creativity
while going above and beyond their role to contribute to the positive image of the industry.”

The CVB Star of the Year award “recognizes a staff person who works with members, vendors
and consultants to implement marketing programs that actively motivate travelers to visit and
frequently return to their destination or area.”

“I feel so honored to be recognized with this award by the MRLA,” said Sistrunk. “I’ve spent
most of my life living in South Haven, and it’s a great joy to support our community’s flourishing,
ensuring both locals and visitors can enjoy the area for years to come.”

Sistrunk has been heavily involved in the tourism and hospitality industries long before she
became the Executive Director of the South Haven Convention & Visitors Bureau in 2021. She

nonprofit organizations.

As the Executive Director of the CVB, Jen is responsible for the organization of several events
for South Haven locals and visitors, as well as marketing efforts to encourage tourism in the
South Haven community.

“This is such an amazing industry. I love that in this industry, no matter where you started from,
there are so many opportunities to grow. I’m so grateful for the relationships I’ve developed with                                             peers in the hospitality industry, and I look forward to continuing to support tourism in South
Haven alongside my incredible team,” said Sistrunk.
