Fourth of July Around West Michigan

It’s summer again which means there is all day fun in the water, sand in between your toes and seemingly everywhere you can think, ice cream cones that melt as quick as you can eat them, and dazzling lights in the sky and more for Fourth of July Weekend! It doesn’t matter if you live in a big city or in a small town, West Michigan has amazing events in celebration of this year’s Fourth of July!


Celebrations in South West Michigan 

The 3rd Annual Berrien Springs Pickle Festival will be held at the History Center at Courthouse Square and the Berrien Springs Community Library. Pickle lovers of all ages will enjoy a day filled with pickle-themed games and activities, food and craft vendors, a dunk tank, a relish eating contest, and a pickle-tasting room! In the southern part of Kalamazoo County, the Village of Schoolcraft hosts their annual 4th of July festivities, including a parade, 5k run/walk, fireworks show, and much more!

Downtown Saugatuck will host a 4th of July parade at noon! The armed forces, bands, and floats will march down Butler Street to celebrate this independence day! Find a sunny spot to watch the festivities with the whole family! 

South Haven’s Light Up the Lake fireworks show is on July 3rd, 2023! Claim a spot along the beaches and bluffs before dusk, when fireworks will be set off the North Pier. Turn up your radios! The entire fireworks display will be coordinated with music on COSY 103.7 FM with Independence Day Parade the following day. 

This 4th of July, head to south-central Michigan’s Coldwater Country for hometown festivals at their best. Kick off Independence Day with Quincy’s annual 4th of July Parade and Rotary BBQ at Quincy Park. Fireworks will light up the sky over Marble Lake, or head back to Coldwater for fireworks over Heritage Park that evening. 

Celebrations in Central West Michigan

Join the SS Milwaukee Clipper for their 4th of July Party hosted on July 2nd! Members get in free to the party and guests can purchase tickets for only $10! Hotdogs, chips, and soda will be provided with a ticket purchase. Watch the fireworks over the city of Muskegon at the end of the night, starting at 8:30! Learn more about this event here

The Independence Day holiday starts at 2 p.m. July 4 with a grand parade proceeding down Ludington Avenue into the downtown Ludington district. Live music, floats, characters, animals and more will make their way through the streets as part of the holiday festival put on by the Ludington Area Jaycees. The parade begins on Madison Street and ends around Fitch Street. The holiday will end with a bang with the July 4 fireworks over Lake Michigan at dusk. What’s more, the S.S. Badger offers a shoreline cruise during the evening hours; buy tickets as they will sell out quickly. 

White Lake Area 4th of July Parade & Fireworks! The parade begins at 10 am and over 75 festive entries travel from Whitehall City Hall to Montague City Hall. Stick around town and enjoy dining, breweries, shops, trails, and parks until the fireworks start at dusk over White Lake. 

Join FireRock Grille in Caledonia for a full evening of food, drinks, and fireworks fun on Friday, June 30th! We will be featuring a specialty menu and our Firecracker BBQ Buffet starting at 5 pm. The buffet is $28 per adult and $15 per child. Enjoy yard games and live music by Yacht Rocket from 6–9 pm followed by an amazing fireworks display starting at dusk, provided by RedWater Restaurant Group and Crystal Springs Property Owners Association. Join RedRock Grille in Holland for a full evening of food, drinks, and fireworks on Tuesday, July 4th! We will be featuring a specialty menu and our Redrockin’ Fireworks Buffet starting at 5 pm. The buffet is $26 per adult and $14 per child. Enjoy a front-row viewing of the fireworks from the dining room, patio, or a spot on the Macatawa golf course lawn. The fireworks show will begin at dusk. Make a reservation for dinner by calling (616) 212-2600. Find a spot on the lawn to continue sipping refreshing RedRock Grille beverages while you watch the fireworks display after your meal! 

Celebrate Independence Day on the Grand River’s Waterfront with a synchronized water and light show followed by a spectacular fireworks display on July 1st. The Grand Haven Musical Fountain begins tentatively at dusk and is a 20-minute, unique, and entertaining water and light show accompanied by music of all varieties located on Dewey Hill. The fireworks show will begin immediately following the Musical Fountain performance. 

Come to Holland Tuesday, July 4th, for an Independence Day to remember. Arrive early to enjoy downtown’s annual Celebrate and Save sale. At dusk, head to Kollen Park for fireworks over Lake Macatawa. From noon – 10 pm, Beechwood Grill treats and fair food standards will be available in the park!

Celebrations in North West Michigan & Upper Peninsula 

There are so many great firework displays happening in Northern Michigan in the Charlevoix area! If you want to see a firework show to remember, head to Beaver Island! The parade and the Island Airways Flyover starts at 2:00 pm, and the fireworks start at 9:00 pm! Fill your day with festivities and fun!  

Celebrate the 4th of July with family and friends while exploring the best that a Mackinac Island summer offers. July is the perfect time to soak up the sun at the Grand Hotel! Guests can enjoy the Esther Williams Swimming Pool, play lawn games in the Tea Garden, or take a bike ride and explore Travel + Leisure’s #1 Island in the Continental U.S. 

Petoskey area communities all have their unique 4th of July celebrations! Boyne City has events like a Patriotic Boat Parade, the 48th Annual Waterside Art Fair, a commemorative raft race, fireworks, and more. Petoskey also offers their firework festivities at dusk and their 4th of July parades. Fill your whole day with fun from sunup to sun down at Harbor Springs! Events include the Paul Revere run, arts in the Park, annual 4th of July Parade, and fireworks! Bay Harbor Village has its firework show on July 3rd for the public at dusk. 

The Cadillac & Lake City community is celebrating the Freedom Festival this Fourth of July weekend! Enjoy a host of activities, including the 5k race, Fire on Water military tribute, classic car show, and more! Feeling hungry after the race? Don’t miss out on the annual Pork in the Park BBQ Competition!  

From South Range to Copper Harbor, you will find plenty of Independence Day celebrations throughout the Keweenaw Peninsula. Enjoy parades, children’s games, BQs, entertainment, and good-old-fashioned family fun! For excellent fireworks displays, you will want to hit up the communities of Lake Linden, South Range, and Copper Harbor.
