Visit Windmill Island Gardens this Monday where Windmill Island Gardens staff will host the
next Books and Blooms activity of the summer on Monday, August 5! Each Books and Blooms will begin
with a Story Time hosted by the Herrick District Library at 10:00 am, followed by a fun, educational, and
hands-on activity at 10:30 am. During the new Books and Blooms series, children can not only enjoy
interactive stories, songs, and activities, but also enjoy our children’s carousel, playground, see our two
Frisian horses, and 10 chickens all on Windmill Island Gardens’ park grounds.

This Monday during Books and Blooms, children can decorate their own biodegradable planter and
Windmill Island Gardens staff will help them plant a sprout grown right here in our greenhouse for families
to take and plant at home! Children can also play a variety of games and even try on different Dutch
costumes and wooden shoes!

Windmill Island Gardens is a Dutch historical park and garden in Holland, Michigan. Visitors can explore
the over 36-acre park and enjoy not only thousands of beautiful annual and perennial flowers and plants,
but also climb to the top of de Zwaan windmill, listen to the authentic Amsterdam street organ, and view
many Dutch replica buildings and exhibits. The park offers fun for all ages with a children’s carousel,
playground, and various family friendly events all year long.

Families are invited to Windmill Island Gardens every other Monday morning for our new bi-weekly Books
and Blooms series from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm through August 12. The bi-weekly Books and Blooms
series will begin with an interactive Story Time hosted by the Herrick District Library starting at 10:00 am,
followed by a come-and-go style activity led by a local non-profit organization from 10:30 am until 12:00
pm. The full schedule of activities can be found below, and on the Books and Blooms Facebook event page.

Activities are free to attend for Holland residents, with regular admission rates applying to non-
