Tibbits Young Audiences invites students in fourth through eighth grades to audition for the fall production of "Book Reports of Destiny," to be held on August 12 and 13 at 5 PM at Tibbits Opera House.
When the students in Ms. Kim’s class present their book reports, their imaginative stories come to life on stage. This play showcases three entertaining parodies of popular books and genres. Chloe begins with her report on Jubie K. Ruby, a determined grade-schooler on a quest to find a missing pony at her birthday party. Next, Isabella offers a creative twist with Grimm Tales of Wunzapon, where classic fairy tale characters confront their modern reinterpretations. The play concludes with Adam and Emerson’s lively report on Bathmat Man, the Damp Knight, culminating in a dynamic flip-o-vision scene where their principal, under hypnosis, becomes an unexpected superhero in a humorous battle against villains and playful bathroom scenarios.
Auditions will take place on stage at Tibbits Opera House. Each student is required to attend only once and should come prepared with a current, non-returnable photo, a completed audition form (available at Tibbits.org), and be accompanied by one parent or guardian. During the audition, students will introduce themselves and deliver selected readings from the script.
“Book Reports of Destiny” will be directed by Jayne Lillis and produced by Tirsha Odisher. This production is generously sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Coldwater. Students involved will learn characterization, blocking, costuming, makeup, and all aspects of a stage production.
Tibbits Young Audiences offers programs both for and by area youth to cultivate their interest in the arts. Two shows yearly, a non-musical in the fall and a musical in the spring, provide students an enjoyable introduction to the world of theatre. Through participation in these shows, they gain valuable insight into teamwork, discipline, theatre skills, self-confidence, and an appreciation for the arts.
