The Mecosta County Convention and Visitors Bureau has announced the appointment of Jennifer Faris-Jones as its new executive director.
Faris-Jones will start in the role on Sept. 8, bringing more than a decade of experience in hospitality and tourism management. Her background includes expertise in team management, event planning, guest services and community engagement.
Faris-Jones most recently served as the general manager of the Holiday Inn Express in Big Rapids, 1005 Perry Ave., and also held leadership roles with the city of Scottville’s Riverside Parks and Campground, as well as Northern Michigan University’s dining services.
In addition to her professional career, Faris-Jones has been actively involved in local service organizations, including serving as president of the Kiwanis Club of the Big Rapids Area. She currently serves as vice president at the Reed City Area Chamber of Commerce.
“We are thrilled to welcome Jennifer into this role,” Convention and Visitors Bureau marketing and office manager Amanda Starkey said. “Her passion for Mecosta County and proven track record in hospitality will help us continue to grow tourism and highlight the unique experiences our community has to offer.”
The bureau said Faris-Jones will lead the CVB’s efforts to promote Mecosta County as a year-round destination for outdoor recreation, arts, culture and family-friendly travel.
