Marketing Intern – Summer 2024

The West Michigan Tourist Association (WMTA) is a non-profit organization which seeks to promote travel and tourism in the West Michigan area. WMTA operates almost entirely via a virtual office; this position will largely work from home, but will be expected in the office (Grand Rapids location) on Monday mornings and other occasions as necessary.

The West Michigan Tourist Association (WMTA) is seeking a marketing intern to assist with the following areas:

  • Partner Outreach to 700+ West Michigan businesses who are partners of WMTA
  • Content collection, research, and writing, as relates to WMTA partners
  • Editorial writing for monthly newsletters
  • Website input & upkeep on WMTA.org
  • Social Media
  • Marketing Tracking

The intern position will work closely with the Marketing Director. Individual must have strong writing skills and be comfortable talking on the phone. This position will largely work from home, but will be expected to attend staff meetings (either held virtually or in the Grand Rapids office) on Monday mornings. Self-motivation is a must.

Responsibilities will include reaching out to WMTA’s member database to ensure the publication of accurate information, assisting with WMTA website updates, contributing to and proofreading articles for the publication, assisting with archiving past publications, and other projects as necessary.

Internship is paid at $12 per hour, and hours can be adjusted to meet necessary educational requirements. Would ideally be looking for 10-15 hours per week. Intern would work with WMTA during the summer of 2023 (May-August).

Relevant majors/fields include Marketing, Communications, Advertising/Public Relations, Hospitality & Tourism Management. Others may be considered as well.
