Blandford Nature Center – Sugarbush Festival; March 23, 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.

For 57 years Blandford Nature Center has been celebrating the sweet arrival of Spring in their Sugarbush stand.  This annual marvel of spring is truly an awesome wonder –  when metal taps are inserted into Sugar Maples and the sap is collected in buckets beneath. Then it’s hours and hours of outdoor simmering to reduce the water in the sap to the ooey, gooey goodness that we all enjoy on our breakfast pancakes. Learn about this whole process with demonstrations, and techniques and tasting in their Sugarhouse. In addition, there will be maple cotton candy, games, crafts, singing, a puppet show and especially popular are the wildlife encounters at 11 and noon.
