Lowell Chamber of Commerce; Santa Visits and A Night of Christmas Cheer

Ho Ho Ho!  Santa has really come to town – especially tonight, where ‘A Night of Christmas Cheer’ is waiting in the quaint and festively lit town of  Lowell.  The streets will come alive with horse and carriage rides and roasted chestnuts, so this promises to be an authentic memory of old-fashioned Americana. Then, meander over to the historic Lowell Showboat where Santa is waiting to make wishes come true, and after, your children will receive a free online photo of this time-honored and cherished tradition.  Live reindeer, and maybe even Rudolph too will be waiting to greet you and after that be sure to indulge in hot cookies and cocoa. There are lots of wonderfully festive shops just waiting to hand out one of the 12 Days of Christmas Trading Cards, so be sure to collect them all for a chance to win prizes thru December 20th.

Binder Park Zoo Paws & Claus Holiday Brunch

The holidays are all about traditions and what could be more fun than this new Brunch tradition at the Binder Park Zoo, called Paws & Claus.  This wild and wonderful setting hosts lots of opportunities to visit the ‘winter hearty’ animals and one very special visitor as well!  Santa! The Discovery Center will host a delectable brunch spread, a hot cocoa bar, and places to engage in a bit of creativity making a few fun crafts.  Make sure to pop into the zoo gift shop too, because you’ll find lots of ‘Zoonique’ gifts for anyone on your list.   Purchase your tickets online – from $ 22.50 to $ 30.00 – as they won’t be sold at the door.  I’d say this is one event that is guaranteed to be a ‘forever’ Holiday tradition.

Windmill Island Magic at the Mill

Speaking of traditions, this is the second year for Magic at the Mill at Windmill Island Gardens, where you can experience Dutch attractions – featuring a 100-year old mill all decked out for this season of merriment and fun.  But the main attraction is quite possibly something truly magical – a  tulip field of over 1,000 LED blossoms, lit and dancing to synchronized holiday music.  This is definitely a light show for the ages and one you won’t want to miss!  Other fun attractions will be featured in the park, including the music of an antique Dutch street organ playing holiday favorites, and rides on the lighted carousel. Last minute holiday shoppers can discover unique gifts for everyone on their list in the Island’s well-stocked gift shops. Visitors looking to keep the evening going will find much more shopping, food, and holiday fun in Downtown Holland including the festive Kerstmarkt (Christmas Market) which is celebrating its 26th anniversary this year at Holland’s Civic Center Place
