W.K. Kellogg Bird Sanctuary: Fall Migration Celebration- November 5: 1:00 – 5:00 p.m.
Lakes provide a safe haven for birds to fuel up as they travel from the north to winter grounds in the Southern US and beyond. And the W. K. Kellogg Bird Sanctuary’s Wintergreen Lake is the perfect place to observe this incredible fall migration that happens like clockwork every year. Currently this lake is home to many types of waterfowl, and early November is the best to see them in action! At Sunday’s Migration Celebration you will have the opportunity to ‘ask an expert’ any questions you may have or get help identifying specific species. The kids will enjoy the crafts, games and a Live Bird presentation at 2:00 p.m. Best of all, it’s an ideal family day that is filled with fresh air, fun, and it’s free!
Holland Museum Netherlands Klok: November 4: Noon
What in the world is a Klok – with a ‘K’? Well, just like it sounds, it is an instrument for measuring time, but not worn on the wrist like a watch. And in the case of the Holland Museum, their historic Klok is very large, full of intricate moving parts and was featured at the 1939 World’s Fair. Every first Saturday of the month you can observe the clock running at exactly noon, for one long minute. But there is so much more to discover here; over 100,000 artifacts in every realm you can think of – including Delftware, silver, Dutch costumes, fine art and furniture. These impressive displays tell the stories of over 400 years of Dutch culture in our West Michigan community and it’s so worth a visit.
