There’s Music in the Air!

Is there anything better than enjoying a West Michigan summer? How about adding some music! Whether listening to a concert in the park, a performance in the vineyard, or music on the patio during dinner, music lovers of all genres will want to add these outdoor performances to their summer calendar.

The Sturgis Area Chamber of Commerce invites you to enjoy “Music on the North” with local musical acts on the North Street festival space in downtown Sturgis on June 25th and July 16th. And mark your calendar for Summer Eats & Beats on July 30th!


Coldwater Country sets the stage for outdoor music throughout the summer. The Village of Quincy is excited for the return of the Sounds of Summer concert series. Starting June 17th through August 26th, each Thursday evening a different musical performance at the Village of Quincy Park on North Main Street. Bring your blankets and chairs! 

Downtown Coldwater is once again hosting the “Entertainment Under the Stars” series of free outdoor concerts every Tuesday night from July 20th-August 24th. Bring a lawn chair, blanket, and enjoy the sounds of folk, bluegrass, classic country, and rock at Heritage Park.

Benton Harbor

Vineyard 2121 hosts a number of live music events all summer long! Visit their online calendar for performance schedule and events. 

Enjoy rock, pop, soul, and more Saturdays throughout the summer at 12 Corners Vineyards in Benton Harbor. Check out their facebook page to who is coming to perform! 


The popular weekend concert series, Jammin’ in the Vineyards, sponsored by Honor Credit Union, brings live music to Round Barn Estate in Baroda weekly on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays through October. Come see why the Round Barn Estate was named one of USA Today’s 10Best Wineries/Vineyards with live music.

St. Joseph

St. Joseph Today presents Friday Night Concerts the third Friday of the month June through September. Groove to the sounds of jazz, big band, classic hits, and more at John E.N. Howard Bandshell, overlooking the charming St. Joseph River. 


Virtue Cider presents Farm Sounds, a summer music series at their farm in Fennville with no cover, local and national artists, and custom cider pairings to go along with the sweet sounds of live music. Book your table online in advance.


The Saugatuck music scene has been happening since 1909 when vacationers from across the Midwest flocked to Saugatuck’s Big Pavilion to hear bands play in America’s second largest dance hall. Although the pavilion is no more, the sounds of live music remain a constant year round with both touring and local acts performing in intimate settings as well as outdoor venues.

Saugatuck Center for the Arts is ready for a summer full of fun and performances on the outdoor plaza! 

  • “Jump Into Summer” on June 4th! Welcome the glorious West Michigan summer during this annual free community festival. Enjoy Covid-safe, all-ages activities including music, family-friendly projects, food, and beverages all hosted on the new outdoor plaza. The celebration includes a free concert by Mike Mains & The Branches, the opening of the Summer Exhibition, and activities for all ages. 
  • Groove with pop-rock icons Orleans and their Top 10 hits “Still The One,” “Dance With Me,” “Love Takes Time,” and many more on June 12th! 
  • Enjoy an evening with Musique Noire on June 18th and move and groove with jazz and blues music with elements of Spaing, Africa, India, and the Middle East.

Hickory Corners

The Gilmore Car Museum in Hickory Corners will start the Summer Outdoor Concert Series with a bang! The nation’s premiere KISS tribute band Strutter rocks the grounds on June 5th followed by the unmistakable hits and guitar solos of Van Halen tribute band, Van Halen 2, on June 25th. Grab your favorite people and head to downtown Kalamazoo every Saturday from June to September for smooth grooves and good times at downtown’s newest music series: Music on the Mall. The free outdoor performances feature a lineup of artists for every music taste.

The Arts Council of Greater Kalamazoo will host Concerts in the Park this summer, a series of free outdoor performances in Bronson Park. Visit the ACGK website for the full schedule.


The Hastings Live Summer Entertainment Series consists of free outdoor concerts and children’s programming throughout the summer in beautiful Downtown Hastings. The series is a collaborative effort between the Thornapple Arts Council and the City of Hastings. Hastings Live is funded in part by a grant from the Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs.


Every summer, Bay Pointe in Shelbyville hosts Gun Lake Live — West Michigan’s premiere concert series and beach-style party. The lakefront concerts happen every Wednesday, rain or shine, from Memorial Day to Labor Day in Bay Pointe’s Lakefront Pavilion. Guests enjoy sunsets and the finest in music talent with dancing, mingling, and boat hopping, all complemented by Bay Pointe’s celebrated food and beverage. Gun Lake Live’s line-up of exceptional bands perform a variety of genres to satisfy every musical taste, from country to pop, reggae, alternative music, and good old rock n’ roll. Downtown Holland kicks off their Street Performer Series June 17th! The Street Performer Series will take place Thursday evenings through August 19th and will feature a diverse line-up of performing artists each week.


The Hudsonville Area Chamber of Commerce and the City of Hudsonville  host the annual, free June Concerts on the Green series every Thursday in June in Veteran’s Park. Each week will feature a different local band or artist. Don’t forget to bring your lawn chair! 

Grand Rapids

Bands at Blandford is back! This year, the Blandford Nature Center summer concert series in Grand Rapids has been expanded to six days between June to September. The summer lineup includes some favorite West Michigan local bands. Check the Blandford Nature Center event calendar for schedule and concert information.

Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park in Grand Rapids will be hosting three special music series this summer, the Fifth Third Bank Summer Concerts at Meijer Gardens, Tuesday Evening Music Club, and the Jim & Marie Preston Sunday Strings, featuring musicians from the Grand Rapids Symphony and West Michigan. Sparta Chamber of Commerce invites you to enjoy live music, eats, and boutiques every Thursday in downtown at Sparta Thursdays on the Square.


The Muskegon area has something for every music lover to enjoy this summer!

  • Bring your lawn chairs to the Montague Band Shell and enjoy a lovely summer evening listening to a variety of genres of music at the Free Outdoor Concerts series.
  • Set in a scenic park, various musicians take to the permanent bandshell in McGraft Park in Muskegon to perform Free Outdoor Concerts throughout the summer. 
  • Each Saturday between June and Labor Day, Maranatha presents a Summer Concert Series in Norton Shores, free and open to the public. You can guarantee yourself a great seat by purchasing tickets to their Saturday evening Italian buffet in the dining room – all dinner guests receive early entry into the concert venue.

Enjoy street performers during an artful weekend at the Lakeshore Art Festival in downtown Muskegon, June 26th & 27th!

White Lake

Enjoy a great line-up of street musicians, artisans, food trucks, and more in White Lake on June 20th at the 42nd Annual White Lake Area Arts & Crafts Festival.


Legacy Plaza in Downtown Ludington will come to life for the Final Friday Experience, featuring live music, a farmers market, shopping, scavenger hunts and more the last Friday of each month through the summer. Grab your beach chairs and blankets and head to Stearns Park Beach for the Pure Ludington Sunset Beach Bonfire June 24th. Free live music, community bonfire and an amazing Lake Michigan sunset are in store as this monthly event returns to Ludington.

With over 100k people visiting annually, Iron Fish Distillery in Thompsonville has become a destination for local and touring musicians. This summer, they will have live music on most weekends, along with a new “Music Monday” series starting June 7th.

Houghton Lake

The Houghton Lake Area Chamber of Commerce invites you to bring your lawn chair or blanket to listen to a variety of live music at the 2021 Summer Gazebo “Best Of” Series. Starting June 9, and continuing every other Wednesday evening throughout the summer on the CRAF Center lawn in downtown Roscommon.

The Shake Houghton Lake Country Music Festival and Backyard BBQ will be held in Houghton Lake August 20th & 21st. The event features live country music by some of Michigan’s finest Country bands, food vendors, arts and crafts vendors, and adult beverages. Mackinac Island

There is so much happening at The Inn at Stonecliffe on Mackinac Island! Their new casual dining concept, started in 2020, is now called The Lawn at Stonecliffe and will continue the diverse, fun menu, focused on outdoor seating with the most amazing view of the Mackinac Bridge. They will also be hosting Tuesday Trivia and Music Mondays starting in June! Visit nightly for great food, a family friendly atmosphere, s’mores, lawn games, and drink specials.
