Come out to Grass River Natural Area near Bellaire to have some autumn fun. Your time will be filled with activities for all ages including a trick-or-treat trail on our boardwalk with “animal” encounters along the way, pumpkin pounding, fall crafts, and games. There will be snacks and apple cider to enjoy as well. No pre-registration is needed, but the staff asks you to check in when you arrive. Owl Prowl

Join Grass River Natural Area to learn about our local owls and their conservation with an introductory presentation in the Grass River Center, and then head out for a night hike in search of these amazing birds. Participants should be comfortable walking outdoors at night for about 1 mile on uneven trails. Bring a light. $10 per person. Must pre-register. No walk-in spaces available. Wild Turkey Trot 5k

Race starts at 11:00 am
Cost: $18 without shirt, $30 with shirt
Celebrate autumn with a wild turkey trot 5k on the trails at Grass River Natural Area. Run or walk the designated course on race day with other participants, or run your own 5k at your own convenience and submit your time later. To register for the race, simply purchase the Wild Turkey Trot T-shirt or Sweatshirt online. The shirt will be mailed directly to you. All ages welcome. All proceeds go to support the educational programming at Grass River. If you want to register for the race, but do NOT want a t-shirt, you can just pay a registration fee. Nature Trivia Night

$5 per person at Short’s Pull Barn, Elk Rapids
Join Grass River Natural Area for Nature Trivia Night at the Short’s Pull Barn in Elk Rapids! Get your team of 2-6 players together and get ready to stretch your brain with 5 rounds of clever, family-friendly trivia. Don’t worry if you’re not a nature expert as questions will draw from other areas of knowledge – like movies and music – as well. $5 per player, which supports GRNA. Players will pay upon arriving at Short’s, 211 Industrial Park Drive, Elk Rapids. Watch for this to become a regular event. Get more information at grassriver.org.
