Theatre and history take center stage next month as we celebrate America’s 250th Anniversary. So, make plans to visit The Barn Theatre in Augusta, a beloved small-town treasure that has been delighting audiences and providing memorable summer theatre for generations. Known for its charming and intimate barn setting, this historic venue has become a summertime tradition for theater lovers from across Michigan and beyond. And this season, there's no better way to celebrate America's 250th Anniversary than with the Tony Award-winning musical 1776. Running June 25 through July 5, this spirited and entertaining production brings one of the most pivotal moments in American history to life. Follow John Adams, Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Jefferson, and the members of the Continental Congress as John Adams tries to persuade them to shape a new nation through the signing of the Declaration of Independence.

Sand Sculpture Contest Grand Haven June 20; 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. spectators, 9:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. participants

Few places in West Michigan are better suited for sand sculpting than the beautiful beaches of Grand Haven, and tomorrow the shoreline becomes an outdoor gallery during the annual Sand Sculpture Contest at Grand Haven City Beach. Spend the day by the lake and watch as talented individuals, teams, families, and young artists transform ordinary sand into extraordinary works of art. From creative designs to larger-than-life masterpieces, competitors will be vying for top honors in multiple contest categories, along with the coveted People's Choice Award. If you're feeling inspired there's still time to join the fun. Contest registration will be available on-site at Grand Haven City Beach between 8:30 and 9:30 a.m.tomorrow.. And to make your beach day even easier, take advantage of the free Harbor Transit shuttle service running to and from the beach from the Duneside Discovery Center on Wisconsin Street beginning at 10:00 a.m.
