Tibbits Young Audiences invites students in fourth through eighth grade to audition for the fall production of “Dr. Experimentor and the League of Evil." Auditions will be held on August 17 and 18 at 5:00 pm at Tibbits Opera House, at 14 S. Hanchett Street, in Coldwater.

Dr. Experimentor, a mastermind supervillain, must fight to maintain his membership in the infamous League of Evil. There’s just one problem — membership means defeating superhero Extremo, who happens to be his best friend! To make matters worse, Dr. Experimentor faces relentless pressure from Agnes and Abigail Anarchy, ambitious upstart villains eager for his downfall. Armed with his arsenal of ingenious inventions — minions, Vegetarian Zombies, Pacifist Ninjas and Robot Soldiers — Dr. Experimentor faces an impossible choice: defeat his superhero or suffer at the hands of the League!

Auditions will take place on stage at Tibbits Opera House. Each student is required to attend only once, and should come prepared with a current, non-returnable photo, a completed audition form (available at Tibbits.org), and be accompanied by one parent or guardian. During the audition, students will be called to the stage in groups of five, asked to introduce themselves and read parts from the script.

“Dr. Experimentor and the League of Evil” will be directed by Jayne Lillis and produced by Tirsha Odisher and Sherry Fagen. This production is generously sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Coldwater. Students involved will learn characterization, blocking, costuming, makeup and all aspects of a stage production.

Tibbits Young Audiences offers programs both for and by area youth to cultivate their interest in the arts. Two shows yearly, a non-musical in the fall and a musical in the spring, provide students an enjoyable introduction to the world of theatre. Through participation in these shows, they gain valuable insight into teamwork, discipline, theatre skills, self-confidence and an appreciation for the arts.
