Tibbits Young Audiences (TYA) program at Tibbits Opera House fulfilled the generous Flagstar Foundation grant awarded last year. This support highlights the foundation’s commitment to enhancing creative opportunities for underserved communities, with a particular focus on arts and culture.

Allocated from September 1, 2023, through July 31, 2024, the grant  supported the productions of Rumpelstiltskin Private Eye, Jack and the Giant, and the 2024 Kids Theatre Workshop. The funds covered essential production expenses, including sets, costumes, props, and marketing, and enabled TYA to deliver high-quality experiences for students.

The grant’s positive impact is reflected in the growth of individual participants, with many showing increased confidence, as well as glowing feedback from parents and the community.  As a result, it has significantly enriched the arts experiences offered to local youth.

TYA thrives thanks to the dedication of volunteers and theatre professionals who work tirelessly to deliver enriching experiences for young performers. Additionally, the program collaborates with local schools to present professional touring performances that enhance the educational curricula.

For students aging out of the program, TYA provides a pathway into technical and backstage roles through Tibbits Theatre and Beyond (T-Tab). This initiative offers leadership opportunities and hands-on experience with Tibbits Summer Theatre professionals, ensuring continued growth and involvement in the arts.
