Tomorrow – Saturday, September 17 – the Grand Rapids Children's Museum is reopening to the public with some all new exhibits for everyone to enjoy. They’re excited to open The Pigeon Comes to Grand Rapids: A Mo Willems exhibit, where children will get to interact with some beloved  characters from Willem’s books, including, of course, The Pigeon. This play and learn exhibit will feature great activities, including the ability for kids to be creative, trying out Mo’s own art techniques used in his books. The exhibit will be at the museum through January 8th, so be sure to swing by while it’s around! You can delve into history this weekend with Holland’s 13th Annual Van Raalte Farm Civil War Muster. This free event will be held on both Saturday and Sunday, September 17th and 18th, taking guests back in time to 1862 with hundreds of Civil War military, cavalry, and civilian reenactors. During the weekend, you can tour the restored homestead of Civil War veteran Ben Van Raalte and learn about the founder of Holland, Reverend Albertus Van Raalte. The muster will not only feature the reenactment, but two days worth of impressions of historical figures, performances, medical scenarios, period-style vendors, and even a Civil War era church service. It’s a great way to learn about history first hand at this reenactment! This weekend in St. Joseph is another Love Local weekend, filled with Fall Festivities, extended shopping hours, specials, and new products! The weekend will begin with the last Friday Night Concert of the year tonight, September 16th. Then on Saturday, swing by the Fall Fest, for activities that include the St. Joe Farmer’s Market in Lake Bluff Park, and the Critter Barn’s FARM ON THE GO! where you can meet their amazing farm animals. It’s a great way to spend the weekend celebrating living in SouthWest Michigan and Love Local!
