This year’s West Michigan Photo Contest kicked off this Monday, July 1st, and you’re invited to enter your best West Michigan photos for a chance to win some great prizes - 2 passes to tube or kayak down the Platte River from Riverside Canoe Trips in Honor and a free nights stay plus a round of golf for 2 at Shanty Creek Resort in Bellaire! Your photo could also be published in the 2025 Carefree Travel Guide! You can enter photos that you’ve taken from anywhere in West Michigan, from the southern border, all the way up to Mackinac Island and into the UP. Cogdal Vineyards, home to ‘Little Man Winery, “ is an intimate winery and tasting room in South Haven, within ½-mile of the shores of Lake Michigan. Their innovative wines reflect the perfect microclimate for growing expressive and fruit-forward wines. Join them in July for the start of their Wine & Food Truck Series, where every Wednesday from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. a different group will be performing live music on their outdoor stage. You can relax and enjoy sipping great wine or cider and enjoy the beautiful views and when hunger strikes, stroll over to the on-site food truck, which also changes weekly. And if your Wednesdays are booked, then visit Cogdal on their Anniversary Weekend, July 20th and 21st, for lots of fun, live music, and more delicious food from Phoenix St and Munchie Man. And that great wine will also be involved!
Battle Creek Field of Flight Air Show & Balloon Show– Today, July 5-7
Calling all Thunderbird, Thunderbolt, Super Hornet Rhino, Lightning II, and Golden Knight Lovers! Oh, and Hot Air Balloons, skydiving, and parachuting aficionado's too! The best of the best - Army, Navy and Airforce fly to West Michigan for the annual legendary and epic Battle Creek Field of Flight Air & Balloon Show. This spectacular show continues today through Sunday, and as far as aviation shows are concerned, it is the largest of its kind in North America. Where else in West Michigan can you watch expert pilots and their planes performing aerial feats while ripping through the skies, leaving you in awe and wonder,...wearing a few goose bumps too. The fun continues as colorful hot air balloons rise silently to the sky, and if you're lucky you might even witness this from the Carnival’s Ferris wheel. Enjoy the human cannonball and other specialty acts, the spectacular Night Show and awesome fireworks, kids’ day, and different live music every night.
