The annual Art on the Island Gala will be back next week on Thursday, September 5 from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm at Windmill Island Gardens! The community is invited to attend this free event to enjoy the beauty of Windmill Island Gardens through inspired artwork created by over 25 local West Michigan artists in categories of Photography, Plein Air, and Best of the Rest. Artwork will have the suggested theme of ‘In Living Color’ going along with this year’s summer garden bed theme. The 2024 Art on the Island is proudly sponsored by Fris Supply Shop.
All submitted artwork will be evaluated by this year’s judge, Artist Jill Eggers, and awarded cash prizes to first and second placing pieces in each category, as well as a judge’s ‘Best of Show’, and a community vote for ‘People’s Choice’. Winners will be announced during the Gala where then, the over 100 pieces of artwork will be for sale to the public to purchase and take home. Some of the pieces that are not purchased during the gala will be left on display at Windmill Island Gardens to view and purchase until Tuesday, October 1.
Admission to the Art on the Island Gala is free with a variety of appetizers to enjoy provided by local caterers, and opportunities to purchase beer and locally made wine from a cash bar. Visit Windmill Island Gardens and enjoy the beautiful scenery during the event, meet many of the artists, and purchase beautiful artwork to take home.
