Since May, a cohort of undergraduate students have been living, learning, and conducting research or professional projects at the W.K. Kellogg Biological Station. Members of the community can learn about those projects and their outcomes at the annual Undergraduate Summer Symposium, set for 3:30 to 5:15 p.m. Thursday, July 23, in the auditorium (Room 312) of the KBS Academic Building, located at 3700 East Gull Lake Drive, in Hickory Corners.
The symposium highlights student projects and celebrates the conclusion of their 10-week summer program. Each year, KBS researchers and staff mentor undergraduates in internships, part-time Undergraduate Research Apprenticeships—URA—or full-time Research Experiences for Undergraduates—REU—programs.
The inquiries at the heart of this year’s student projects are wide-ranging and include interns describing their professional experiences and projects completed at Kellogg Bird Sanctuary and the Kellogg Forest as well as student research done in collaboration with KBS faculty at the KBS Long-term Ecological Research site, KBS Great Lakes Bioenergy Research Center, KBS Long-term Agroecosystem plots, and other field sites

Attendees are encouraged to walk through and learn about their endeavors.
