The Muskegon Heritage Museum of Business and Industry will host its July Community Day on Saturday, July 18, with the spotlight on motorcycles and bicycles—two of the ways Muskegon County has moved throughout its history.

Admission is free, and the museum will be open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 561 W. Western Ave. in downtown Muskegon. The event is part of the museum's 2026 Community Days series, presented by Verplank, which opens the doors free to the public on one Saturday each month from May through October. Each month explores a different mode of transportation that shaped Muskegon County's growth.

Along with Verplank, our July Community Day is sponsored by RENK America and Hines Corporation.

Adding to the day's theme, the museum will host a Vintage Motorcycle Display outside the building from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Bike owners will park their motorcycles along the street, and guests are welcome to stop by, ask questions, and see machines spanning different eras of motorcycle history. Riders interested in showing a bike must register in advance, as space is limited; contact wendy@lakeshoremuseum.org to register.

"Motorcycles and bicycles are part of how this community got around long before the highways came through,” said Kirk Bunke, Site Manager of the Muskegon Heritage Museum of Business and Industry. "It's one thing to read about that history. It's another to walk outside and see the bikes themselves."
