St. Cecilia Music Center (SCMC) brings musical trailblazer and renowned singer, songwriter, and producer Joy Oladokun to the Royce Auditorium on Tuesday, November 18 at 7:30 p.m. Joy Oladokun has garnered significant acclaim for her unique and vulnerable vocal style. Her 2020 breakthrough marked the release of two highly acclaimed albums: “In Defense of My Own Happiness” (2021) and “Proof of Life” (2023), both of which achieved widespread recognition and inclusion on numerous best-of-the-year lists. Currently, Oladokun is actively preparing her third studio album, which features her latest single, “DRUGS,” and embarking on an extensive tour that includes collaborations with esteemed artists such as Hozier and Tyler Childers.
Oladokun’s music has resonated with audiences across diverse platforms, spanning from documentaries to popular television series such as “And Just Like That,” “CSI: Vegas,” and “Grey’s Anatomy.” Notably, her song “i see america” was nominated for the Recording Academy’s Special Merit Award for Best Song for Social Change.

Joy Oladokun has garnered significant acclaim for her unique and vulnerable vocal style. As a proud queer Black artist and the daughter of Nigerian immigrants, Oladokun has graced prestigious stages across various television programs, including “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert,” “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,” “Jimmy Kimmel Live!,” “CBS Saturday Morning,” “TODAY,” “Austin City Limits” on PBS, and “Tiny Desk (Home) Concert” on NPR Music.
