St. Cecilia Music Center (SCMC) brings Sam Bush and his band to perform on Thursday, March 26th at 7:30 p.m. Working for decades within the music industry, Sam Bush was one of the forefront creators of the New Grass music genre which began in the 70”s with his band The New Grass Revival. His rise to fame began with teaming up on the road with his friend Leon Russell, and later with Emmy Lou Harris. In his own words, his current band was created to reflect his decades long influences in music. Bush says, “With this band I have now I am free to try anything. Looking back on the last 50 years of playing newgrass, with the elements of jazz improvisation and rock & roll, jamming, playing with the New Grass Revival, Leon and Emmylou; it’s a culmination of all of that.” His perennial appearances in Telluride, Colorado at the town’s famed bluegrass fest has earned him the title, “King of Telluride.”
Executive & Artistic Director of SCMC Cathy Holbrook says, “Sam Bush is the quintessential New Grass artist blending Blue Grass, Rock & Roll and Jazz into his totally original sound. An amazing performer, we’re looking forward to having him back on the Royce Auditorium stage on March 26th.”
