The Frankfort Downtown Development Authority is excited to announce the launch of the Main Street Social District — a designated area in the heart of downtown where visitors and locals alike can purchase a drink from a participating establishment and enjoy it while exploring everything our walkable downtown has to offer.

How It Works
The Social District is simple: purchase an alcoholic beverage from any participating business, and you're free to enjoy it while walking within the district's designated Commons Area. All drinks are served in specially marked, 16-ounce, non-glass Social District cups — no carry-ins permitted. While you can carry your drink through the outdoor common areas, beverages cannot be taken into other licensed establishments. The district is open year-round, seven days a week, from 11:00 AM to 11:00 PM.

Where Can You Go?
The Social District covers the heart of downtown along Main Street from 11th Street east to 1st Street/Michigan Avenue west, and extends south toward Betsie Bay to include the south ends of 2nd through 5th Streets, Waterfront Drive, and a portion of the Betsie Valley Trail. The district also includes the north end of 3rd Street to Anchor Place. Look for clearly marked signage at the boundaries throughout the district.

Please note: once you cross onto the beach itself, standard park and beach regulations apply.

Who's Participating?
Ten of downtown Frankfort's favorite spots are already on board:

Look for the Social District decal in the windows of participating businesses. And if you're popping into a retail shop with your cup, look for a Sip & Shop sign — or simply ask before entering.

Family-Friendly by Design
The Main Street Social District is designed for everyone. Parents can enjoy a craft beer or cocktail while the family explores Main Street or heads down toward the beach — all within the vibrant, walkable atmosphere Frankfort is known for. We simply ask that all patrons drink responsibly and remain mindful of our community's family-oriented spirit.
