The Mt. Pleasant Area Convention & Visitors Bureau honored and celebrated the 2025 Meet Mt. Pleasant Tourism Award Recipient.
The Mt. Pleasant Area Convention and Visitors Bureau (MPACVB) is pleased to announce Morey Courts Recreation Center as the 2025 Meet Mt. Pleasant Tourism Award recipient
Morey Courts Recreation Center opened in 2008 as part of the Isabella Community Sportsplex and is funded by the Morey Foundation and community supports without taxpayer money. Morey Courts Recreation Center features basketball, racquetball, volleyball, and other fitness amenities allowing them to host numerous tournaments and become a significant asset to the local Mt. Pleasant community. Morey Courts provides opportunities for youth athletics, partner with SilverSneakers giving elderly a safe, comfortable space to walk, and opens its doors to those in need.
Morey Courts Recreation Center has also seen tremendous growth. Prior to Covid-19, the facility only hosted three tournaments. In 2026, the facility will be hosting 41 tournaments out of 52 available weekends!
Amy Bunting, the Executive Director of Morey Courts works strategically with the MPACVB on when to host big tournaments and when to host local events. Bunting leads her Morey team with vision, passion, and enthusiasm that creates a facility that not only attracts visitors but also enriches the lives of residents in the Mt. Pleasant community.
The MPACVB Tourism Award is given to a recipient that shows outstanding support to the tourism industry in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan. The MPACVB honors organizations and individuals every year, for its impact on the community.
In addition, the William Brehm Tourism Scholarship is awarded to a Central Michigan University student studying the tourism industry. The 2025 scholarship recipient is Kathryn Cree, a senior at CMU studying Event and Recreation Management with a minor in marketing. Kathryn is being recognized for her outstanding leadership qualities and dedication to the hospitality industry.
