They are always up to something up there in the Key, and fall is a time when things really shine. Jesse has big, big plans for the first weekend in October, and shares their four-fold celebration with us.

The Canal Colors Festival will feature events throughout the weekend, including a crazy color run, historical Brew Street downtown, and another attempt at a world record on Plaidurday. Yes, we are not making this up.

Early fall colors are dotting the trees across Michigan’s northernmost point – especially around Copper Harbor. Visit Keweenaw encourages travelers to follow the changing conditions and book their fall getaways now.

Canal Colors Festival, Oct. 1-4.

  • Friday, Oct. 2, features the community Plaidurday photo at 1 p.m. and Brew Street from 5-9 p.m., with live music, food and local beverages supporting the Carnegie Museum of the Keweenaw.

  • Saturday, Oct. 3, continues with the Keweenaw Color Run and Houghton Fall Fest, giving visitors more reasons to pack their flannel and stay for the weekend from 10-2 on Saturday.
