Temptations started in Grand Haven in the summer of 1984, along with the creation of the Grand
Haven Boardwalk. Like peanut butter and jelly, the two are made for each other! There is no
walking the boardwalk without an ice cream cone in your hand!
To celebrate the occasion, Temptations has rolled out a special, one of a kind flavor, The
Boardwalk. It features their award winning vanilla ice cream, ladled with swirls of creamy
peanut butter, local Fortino’s peanuts, and mini chocolate covered pretzels. 40% of all
Boardwalk cone sales will benefit The Boardwalk fund.
After the collapse of Chinook Pier in 2020, Temptations was lucky enough to move to the Depot,
right at the Lynne Sherwood Waterfront Stadium. They continue to provide ice cream to
thousands of locals and tourists alike, all enjoying the Grand Haven Waterfront.
In 1984, the Boardwalk helped define Grand Haven as a Lake Michigan Waterfront Community.
We are proud that our boardwalk has become one of the most heavily used and enjoyed
boardwalks in Michigan with over 1,000,000 guests. Over the last decade fundraising has raised
private funds to preserve and restore the boardwalk. Plans to upgrade the Boardwalk after Labor
Day are moving ahead. Fundraising is now focused on replacing the assets needed for current
repairs so that endowment funds will be available for future repairs.
