The Houghton Lake Area Tourism Bureau (HLATB) is excited to announce a new addition to the Houghton Lake Area!  As Michigan’s largest inland lake, folks visit annually to enjoy the great outdoors, including many water and snow activities!  From boating and fishing to hunting, snowmobiling, and off-roading – there is plenty of authentic fun to be had in the Houghton Lake Area!  This year, we have a new visitor in town, Michigan’s iconic Big Foot!  He is scheduled to appear on Thursday, October 2, 2025, at 10:00 AM behind Lyman’s on the Lake (6560 W. Houghton Lake Drive, Houghton Lake, MI).  The Houghton Lake Area Tourism Bureau and the local paper (The Houghton Lake Resorter) will be on hand to greet this 7-foot giant!

Please join us for this special occasion if you are in town!  However, Big Foot’s appearance will also be captured on the HLATB’s webcam if you are not able to join us in person.  Please make a virtual date to visit us on our homepage webcam on Thursday, October 2 at 10:00 AM at www.visithoughtonlake.com. We plan to make our big furry friend part of the Houghton Lake Area Tourism family!

The Houghton Lake Area Tourism Bureau looks forward to a long-term relationship with Sasquatch and hopes to engage local businesses and the surrounding community in embracing his presence.
