Gun Lake Casino Resort today announced proud support of the Wayland Area Chamber of Commerce’s 11th annual West Michigan #JustSayThanks Law Enforcement Appreciation campaign and dinner. GLCR made a financial contribution and will donate food for the law enforcement appreciation dinner.
The Wayland Chamber’s annual dinner is free to all active and retired law enforcement officers in West Michigan, their spouses or significant others, and their children. The event is private for law enforcement and their immediate families. Each year the campaign raises money to show appreciation of law enforcement in West Michigan by gathering for food and fellowship. This is a reunion of sorts, as many retired members of law enforcement get to visit lifelong colleagues and friends.
“We are proud to support the Wayland Chamber’s annual campaign to honor and support valued members of the West Michigan law enforcement community,” said Brian Decorah, Senior VP/General Manager. “Gun Lake Casino Resort appreciates the men and women in uniform who admirably serve and protect our local community each and every day.”
In 1962, President John F. Kennedy signed a proclamation that designated May 15 as Peace Officers Memorial Day and the week in which that date falls as National Police Week. The Wayland Chamber’s annual campaign is scheduled in observance of Police Week.
The annual dinner draws over 300 attendees from the West Michigan law enforcement community. Active and retired law enforcement officers receive gift cards to purchase
items at local businesses. Attendees are entered into drawings for large prizes including grills, smokers, coolers, pizza ovens, tools, catered meals and more.
GLCR’s donation this year qualifies as a “Chief Investment Level” at $2,500 or above. The Casino made a financial contribution of $1,000 and will provide food and beverage for the dinner. Peace Officers Memorial Day is May 15, and a week of observances recognizing officers who given their lives in the line of duty, as well as those who continue to serve and protect our communities with dedication and courage.
