Grand Rapids Downtown Market invites the West Michigan community to experience Slithering Sunday, a free, family-friendly event slithering into the Market’s Greenhouse and Banquet Room on Sunday, February 15, from 10:00am to 1:00pm

A winter favorite for animal lovers, Slithering Sunday brings guests face-to-face with a variety of reptiles and critters in a warm, vibrant environment. Created with a focus on providing hands-on learning, the event offers attendees of all ages the opportunity to safely interact with live snakes, lizards, turtles, and other species while learning from knowledgeable handlers and wildlife experts.

Through partnerships with local nature centers, reptile rescues, and community organizations, guests can explore educational exhibits, discover fascinating reptile facts, and examine unique animal artifacts. Experts will be available throughout the event to answer questions, share insights, and help visitors better understand these creatures. This year’s partners include Critchlow Alligator Sanctuary, Grand Rapids Public Museum, Michigan Science Center, N&N Exotic Reptile Rescue, V.I. Pets, and West Michigan Wildlife Center.

Slithering Sunday provides a fun, screen-free outing during the winter months and encourages families to learn together in an engaging, interactive environment. There is no cost to attend.

Guests are encouraged to make a full day of their visit and enjoy a meal, snack, or beverage inside the Market Hall, home to 21 local merchants offering a wide variety of cuisines and specialty foods. The Market Hall will be open from 10:00am to 7:00pm.

More information about Slithering Sunday can be found on the Downtown Market’s website.
