A grand display of fireworks will hit the sky around Traverse City for the fourth annual International Fireworks Championship on Friday, September 11, and Saturday, September 12. The dates were announced today by the show organizer, Traverse City Tourism.
The two-day event will again feature six award-winning pyrotechnic teams from around the world. Details of this year’s event have not been announced, but expect to have presentations each night by three teams. Both nights will be capped off by a grand finale.
Ticket sales are expected to start later next month, with two-day tickets available along with group ticket sales and indoor suites.
The team lineups have not been announced, but they are required to have recently won a fireworks competition at a show somewhere around the world. “In the first three years of this competition, we attracted the top fireworks companies from around the world,” said Traverse City Tourism President, Trevor Tkach (tah-KACH). “The teams were energized to choreograph presentations synchronized to music that were nothing short of spectacular.”
Last year’s competitors included teams from Poland, Canada, China, Portugal, Serbia, and the USA. Team Poland won the overall competition through a vote of pyrotechnic expert judges.
The presenting sponsor is GFL Environmental. The show will be held at Turtle Creek Stadium. Those wishing to sponsor the show are encouraged to contact Mickey Graham at Mickey@TraverseCity.com. View a video recap of the 2025 show here.
