Step back in time and explore life after hours in the historic homes of Charles
Hackley and Thomas Hume in the After Dark Tours at the Hackley and Hume Historic Sites.
This special evening tour invites guests to experience the beautifully preserved Victorian-era homes of Muskegon’s
lumber barons from 9-10 p.m. on the first Friday of each month from May through October 2025.
Bring your loved ones and delve into the captivating history of the booming lumber industry, the lives of Charles
Hackley and Thomas Hume, and everyday life in Muskegon during the late 19th century.
“Whether you’re a first-time visitor or a longtime fan of the Hackley and Hume homes, our After Dark tour
offers a fresh, fun way to experience Muskegon’s rich history,” said Historic Sites Director Erin Schmitz.
“Exploring these beautifully preserved homes by evening light is special. It’s perfect for a night out with friends,
family, or anyone who loves a good story.”
After Dark Tours will be held on the following nights from 9-10 p.m.:

● Friday, August 1
● Friday, September 5
● Friday, October 3
Guests are encouraged to bring friends or family for this unforgettable after-hours adventure. Tickets are $15 for
non-members and $10 for Lakeshore Museum Center members. Space is limited, and advanced registration is highly

When you arrive, check into the City Barn (carriage house) between the Hackley and Hume Houses. Free parking is
available on Webster Avenue and 6th Street.
