Join the interpretive staff at Colonial Michilimackinac for one of the most explosive evenings of the year as they fire off all Michilimackinac’s artillery after the sun goes down, with the cannon as the finale on Sunday, September 1. Gates open at 7:30 p.m.
“This event allows us to share some new and exciting elements of Michilimackinac with our visitors,” said Craig Wilson, Chief Curator for Mackinac State Historic Parks.
Staff, dressed as British soldiers, will fire all of Michilimackinac’s weapons – muskets, the wall gun and mortar, then the cannon as the finale with the magnificent Mackinac Bridge serving as the backdrop.
Entrance for the event will be on Straits Avenue, west of the Mackinac Bridge, across from the Fort Fudge Shop. Gates open at 7:30 p.m. A banner will be posted on the fence and staff will be stationed there. This is a free event, but donations are encouraged. This event is subject to cancellation in the event of inclement weather.
Support for many Mackinac State Historic Parks events comes from Mackinac Associates, friends preserving and sharing Mackinac’s heritage.
