Celebrate the spirit of the season with a lineup of festive events hosted by some of Michigan’s most beloved community organizations. St. Joseph Today kicks things off with their annual Reindog Parade, where costumed pets and holiday fun take over downtown. In Marshall, the Marshall Historical Society invites guests to experience the magic of its 44th Annual Candlelight Walk, followed by festive shopping during Choose Marshall’s Holiday Sip & Shop. And in Muskegon, the Hackley & Hume Historic Site welcomes visitors for beautifully decorated Holiday Tours through their iconic Queen Anne–style homes. Whether you're after parades, candlelight strolls, or historic holiday charm, this weekend has something spectacular in store.

Reindog Parade – St. Joseph Today | December 6

Get ready — tomorrow it’s raining dogs, not snowflakes! The beloved Reindog Parade returns to downtown St. Joseph, bringing holiday cheer in the form of costumed pets of every size, shape, and color. From Santa Bernards to Reindeer Rottweilers, you’ll see festive pups—and their equally decked-out owners—strut their stuff in full holiday style. Santa will be there too, so plan to stop by Santa’s House after the parade to share your wish list. To participate, registration is required and open online through this evening, or in person tomorrow at the Welcome Center. If you’re hoping to take home a prize, be sure to check in early!

  • $5 per pet, $3 for each additional pet
  • Judging: 1:00–2:45 p.m. at the Welcome Center
  • Parade begins: 3:00 p.m. at Elm & State Streets

Experience one of Michigan’s most magical traditions: the 44th Annual Candlelight Walk hosted by the Marshall Historical Society. Five beautifully decorated historic homes open their doors for this enchanting tour, held tomorrow and Sunday. Choose from 4:30 p.m. or 6:45 p.m. tours ($35 per ticket) and arrive at least 30 minutes early to enjoy a cozy pre-tour reception at the Presbyterian Church on Mansion St. As you stroll from home to home by candlelight, you’ll receive a bag for your shoes—so slip on your comfiest socks for easy in-and-out access! Then on December 11, head back to downtown for Marshall’s Holiday Sip & Shop from 5:30–8:30 p.m. Sip while you browse, punch the holiday tree display for prizes and discounts, and enjoy festive deals from local merchants. Ugly Sweaters and Holiday Jammies are highly encouraged!
