Black Star Farms is proud to  unveil its newest limited release: a handcrafted Pear Wine, available exclusively at the  winery’s Suttons Bay and Old Mission tasting rooms.

Crafted from locally sourced Northwest Michigan pears, this small-batch wine is a rare find  in Northern Michigan—and in the wine world at large. Offering a truly distinctive tasting  experience, it celebrates the region’s long-standing fruit-growing heritage and reflects Black  Star Farms’ ongoing commitment to producing wines with local character and minimal  intervention.

Priced at just $18 per bottle, this release is available in limited quantities starting this Friday,  May 23, 2025, while supplies last.

“This is a unique wine we’ve crafting for a long time,” said Lee Lutes, Head Winemaker at  Black Star Farms. “It’s incredibly expressive, with subtle pear aromatics, soft acidity, and a

clean, refreshing finish. Because we use 100% local pears and ferment gently to preserve  their delicate flavor, you get an authentic taste of Northwest Michigan in every sip.”

As a fully estate-based producer, Black Star Farms remains at the forefront of the region’s  sustainable wine movement, offering wines that resonate with a new generation of  consumers seeking transparency, quality, and local sourcing.

“Our Pear Wine is more than just a seasonal release—it’s a reflection of who we are as a  winery and a community,” said Sherri Fenton, Owner of Black Star Farms. “It honors the  agricultural roots of our region and invites guests to explore something truly unique and  celebratory. We’re excited to share it just in time for the holiday weekend.”

The Pear Wine will be available for tasting and purchase exclusively at Black Star Farms’  two Northern Michigan tasting rooms. Due to limited production, early visits are encouraged.
