Windmill Island Gardens is excited to bring back Make and Take classes this spring with a class leading participants in crafting their own, one-of-a-kind Bee Hotels! On Tuesday, April 14 from 6pm 7pm, learn how to create your own Bee Hotels to hang in your garden spaces, perfect for our local pollinators. Using cedar wood frames and organic materials found right here at Windmill Island Gardens, our Horticulture staff will lead participants in crafting their very own Bee Hotels full of cozy cavities, for bees and other insects to make their own, and a great way to protect your local pollinators in style! This is a cost effective and decorative way to build solitary insects a home while helping pollinators and reducing the use of chemicals for pest control for our gardens.
Make and Takes – Bee Hotels will be held at Windmill Island Gardens in the white Celebration Pavilion (1 Lincoln Ave, Holland, MI 49423). Class fees are $40 per person and will include all needed supplies. Participants will all leave with their 8in x 3in x 12in unique Bee Hotels to take home. Tickets are non-refundable. Windmill Island Gardens hosts various Make and Take classes all season long! From Bee Hotels to earrings to tea making to floral arrangements, there is sure to be something for everyone to enjoy, with no experience necessary! This crafting series will consist of various projects with Dutch or garden themes where registration fees vary.
