The colorful world of Dr. Seuss takes over the Barn Theatre July 8 – 20 with Seussical the Musical!
Seussical is a fantastical, magical, musical extravaganza! Prepare to be transported to the Jungle of Nool to the tiniest planet in the sky Whoville, to Circus McGurkus and everywhere in between! This feel-good musical bonanza dares us to think big and reminds us of the power of loyalty, family, and acceptance. After all a person’s a person no matter how small!
The Cat in the Hat (Barn favorite Luke Ragotzy) as the narrator tells the story of Horton (Barn favorite Patrick Hunter), an elephant who discovers a speck of dust that contains the Whos, including Jojo (Guest Artist, Kalamazoo favorite, Spencer Duguay), a Who child sent off to military school for thinking too many “thinks.” Horton faces a double challenge: not only must he protect the Whos from a world of naysayers and dangers, but he must guard an abandoned egg, left in his care.
Also featured in the cast are First year apprentices Vivian Lakin as Gertrude McFuzz, and Abbey Grace Messing as Mayzie LaBird. Rounding out the cast are Charlie King as General Genghis Kahn Schmitz, John Jay Espino as Yertle the Turtle, and a whole bunch of talented Barnies.
Their dynamic performances, combined with a lively, memorable score from Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty having lovingly brought to life all of our favorite Dr. Seuss characters.
