Locked Zoo events allow guests ages 18 and up to contribute to wildlife conservation through exhilarating puzzle-solving quests

Enter the jungle and race against the clock through big cat territory during the next edition of Locked Zoo at John Ball Zoo.

“Locked Zoo: Cryptic Cats” is an epic after-hours adventure that transforms John Ball Zoo into an exhilarating escape room. A series of new Locked Zoo experiences is coming to the Zoo due to the popularity of last year’s dinosaur-themed event.

The next event takes place 6-9 p.m. on Friday, July 11, and invites teams to unravel nature-related mysteries, solve intricate puzzles and explore John Ball Zoo in a new way. Locked Zoo is offered for guests ages 18 and up in teams of one to six people.

“We are thrilled that guests had an amazing experience during our first Locked Zoo event last year and are so excited to bring this unique experience back in a new way,” said Darci Mitchell, events and promotions manager at the Zoo. “Locked Zoo is a great way to spend a night out with friends, explore the Zoo with no children and help contribute to the conservation of wildlife and wild places in Michigan and around the world.”

Guests can enter the Zoo any time between 6-8 p.m. It is recommended they begin two hours before the event ends in order to complete the challenge. Each team will need at least one fully charged cell phone to complete tasks. A variety of food and drink options will be available for purchase during the event.

The July 11 event isn’t the only chance to have an escape room experience at the Zoo this season. John Ball Zoo will also host the following Locked Zoo events:

All Locked Zoo events are $30 for Zoo members and $35 for non-members. Tickets are available through the Zoo’s website for all of the events.
