DeVos Performance Hall
Located inside DeVos Place®, DeVos Performance Hall is the 2404-seat performing arts theater featuring performances by all four Grand Rapids performing arts groups including The Grand Rapids Symphony, The Grand Rapids Ballet, Broadway Grand Rapids and Opera Grand Rapids. DeVos Performance Hall provides an intimate setting for these Grand Rapids Arts Groups as well as other touring concerts and family shows.
DeVos Performance Hall has hosted concerts including Aretha Franklin, B.B. King, James Taylor, John Mellencamp and Harry Connick, Jr.; comedians such as #IMOMSOHARD, Jerry Seinfeld, Dave Chappelle, Joel McHale and Ron White; and family shows including Dora The Explorer Live, Peppa Pig Live, DanTDM and Wild Kratts Live.
The renovated lobby of DeVos Performance Hall was unveiled in June 2002 as part of the DeVos Place Expansion project. The lobby includes a beautiful terrazzo floor, new box office with an outside window and a scrolling marquee. Also part of the renovations were new restroom facilities located on the north side of the theater on the second and third floors.
Internal renovations include refurbished theater seating, as well as new wall and ceiling finishes, new flooring and enhanced colored accent lighting to refresh the house interior and adjoining entry paths. New balcony light fixtures were added along with freshly redesigned balcony fronts that have improved sight lines.
DeVos Performance Hall celebrated its 30th Anniversary in the Fall of 2010 with two Open Houses. The public was invited to go behind the scenes with backstage tours on the set of performances by The Grand Rapids Ballet Company and Opera Grand Rapids, and to learn more about the history of the West Michigan community's theater over the past 30 years.
