Kellogg Bird Sanctuary Offers Free Admission, Art Exhibit In Honor Of Earth Day

On Sunday, April 21, the W.K. Kellogg Bird Sanctuary will be offering free admission in celebration of Earth Day, which is observed annually on April 22.

There are so many ways to enjoy the gifts of nature at the Sanctuary. Take the shorter Paved Path or the longer Lake Loop Trail for close-up views of waterfowl including native Trumpeter Swans. Find the Sanctuary spot that’s home to its ambassador birds—Bald Eagles, Red-tailed Hawks and several owl species. Walk the Bluebird Trail, learn about the impact of restoration plantings and observe a prairie restoration project. Visit the Sanctuary gardens to see native plants in action—as well as the pollinators that coexist with them.

Art by local elementary students on display

This year, second-grade students from the Richland and Kellogg Elementary schools are collaborating with the Sanctuary to create an art show on Earth Day. This show will express why Earth Day is important to them. Their art projects will be displayed at the Sanctuary April 20-21.

The Sanctuary will be open Sunday, April 21, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The W.K. Kellogg Bird Sanctuary is located at 12685 E. C Ave. in Augusta. Questions? Contact the Sanctuary at birdsanctuary@kbs.msu.edu or (269) 671-2510.
