The Dansville Memorial Freedom Festival runs Friday thru Monday with a carnival, social tent, live music, karaoke, and vendors throughout the weekend. Carnival armbands may be purchased at a discount rate if purchased online by 11:59 p.m. Thursday, May 27: http://www.gotothecarnival.com/.

Opening night fireworks start at dusk on Friday (Freer Park), and DJ Karaoke by Dave Brown Entertainment is in the Wooden Nickel social tent (7:00-11:00 p.m.)

Saturday features free Zumba in the social tent by Mia Louisa DeLano (11:00 a.m.) and a cornhole fundraiser for Wounded Warriors (Wooden Nickel; register 12:30; start 2:00; $25). It's also Kids' Day, including a kids' bike parade (12:30), performances by My Adventure Theater (2:00 and 4:00), face painting, a balloon artist, princess, and other activities. Saturday also brings smoked BBQ, wood carving by SWAG Chainsaw ART, DJ Karaoke by Dave Brown Entertainment (1:00), and live music by Mama Tryd Band (7:00-11:00 p.m.)

Sunday begins with a Veterans Breakfast at the Wooden Nickel (complimentary for US veterans) 8:00-noon. Wood carving by SWAG Chainsaw ART runs 9:00 a.m.-noon and 2:00-5:00, and the social tent features live music by Kurt Stone (7:00-11:00 p.m.)

The Big Foot Challenge 5k Run/Walk starts us off on Monday - meet at the Dansville High School Track (9:00 a.m. start; packet pick-up begins at 7:30 a.m.) Entry fee $25 thru 5/22/22; $30 from 5/23/22-5/29/22. Little Foot Race (ages 10 and under), also at the Dansville High School Track starts at 8:30 a.m.; $5 entry fee. All proceeds to Dansville cross country and track programs. The highlight of the weekend begins at 11:40 a.m. with a remembrance of US soldiers who gave their lives in service to our country, led by VFW Post 7309 (corner of M-36 and Jackson Street) and the Memorial Day Parade at noon featuring Grand Marshal Larry Soule and the National Anthem performed by the Moran Family-Bill, Lindsey, and our very own American Idol contender Jacob Moran. (Handicapped parking available at the Free Methodist Church.) Following the parade: Live Elvis Tribute performance by Matt King, smoked BBQ, and wood carving by SWAG Chainsaw ART.
