The Harbor Springs Area Historical Society is pleased to announce the opening of their juried art exhibition, Memories and Art in the Making: Celebrating the Community We Share, at the Ephraim Shay Hexagon House (396 E Main Street, Harbor Springs). The exhibition will be open on Fridays and Saturdays from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm through September 29, 2018. Admission to the exhibition is free with donations appreciated.

Ephraim Shay, the creator of the Shay geared locomotive, built the Hexagon House in 1892 and lived there until his death in 1916. In July 2017, the Historical Society announced the donation of this unique piece of history to the society from previous owner, the late Mary Cay Bartush Jones. The Historical Society is pleased to open this storied building to the community as a place where the memories and stories of local artists can come together in celebration of the rich history of Harbor Springs. Everyone is invited to explore the ways in which history can be communicated through art and to learn more about our traditions through the eyes of local artists.
