Tibbits Opera House is proud to announce the return of the highly anticipated Kids Theatre Workshop, which will take place from July 13-19, 2025. Designed for young actors and theatre enthusiasts, whether they prefer to be on stage or off, this engaging workshop offers a unique opportunity for students to explore the world of theatre under the guidance of seasoned professionals.

As with last year’s workshop, students will be led by experienced theatre instructor Chad Tallon, and supported by Tibbits Summer Theatre professional company members, this workshop promises an immersive and unforgettable experience for participants. The acting session allows students a dynamic blend of acting exercises, improvisation games, and ensemble activities, Students will develop essential performance skills and unleash their creative potential on stage, while the technical theatre session focuses on aspects of design and the elements of theatre that often go unseen.

The acting sessions are split into two: morning sessions, running from 9 am to 12 pm, are tailored for students in grades 7-12, while the afternoon ones, from 1 to 4 pm, are available to students in grades 3-6. These will focus on the art of acting and character development, delving into the nuances of dramatic storytelling and bringing classic characters to life.

Also in the afternoon session, and available for students in grades 7-12, the workshop will explore the exciting world of technical theatre and design under the guidance of seasoned technicians and instructors. From designing sets and props to mastering lighting and sound effects, participants will gain hands-on experience in the behind-the-scenes magic of theatre production.

No prior experience is required to join the workshop, making it accessible to students of all skill levels and backgrounds. With a supportive and inclusive learning environment, participants will build confidence, teamwork skills, and lasting friendships as they collaborate on a final showcase performance on July 19.

Registration for the workshop is now open, with a fee of $150 for one session or $250 for both sessions. Tibbits members enjoy discounted rates, and scholarships are available for eligible students to ensure accessibility for all. The scholarship application deadline is June 13. Workshop participants will also receive a commemorative t-shirt and a ticket to attend one of our Summer Theatre productions.
