Tibbits Opera House is excited to welcome members of the Kalamazoo Symphony Orchestra for multiple performances coming up on Friday, December 12 at the historic venue.

The day starts bright and early with two performances for area schools, as part of Tibbits’ ongoing mission to provide engaging opportunities in arts, culture, education and entertainment. Students from a variety of local elementary schools will come with their classes to the theatre to see one of the Kalamazoo Symphony Orchestra’s Musical Storybooks, “Peter and the Wolf.” In this symphonic fairy tale, a woodwind quintet (oboe, clarinet, bassoon, French horn, and flute) brings the characters to life. The Musical Storybooks are a program from the Kalamazoo Symphony Orchestra, which presents audience favorite storybooks, narrated alongside music from symphony musicians. These performances are specifically a part of Tibbits’ school programming, and any interested school officials should contact the Tibbits office at 517-278-6029 to inquire about availability.

Later that night, Tibbits welcomes the Kalamazoo Symphony Orchestra’s Burdick-Thorne String Quartet to the stage, for a holiday concert, starting at 7:00 p.m., featuring a night of warm feelings and holiday classics. The quartet features Stefan Hubenov and Lisa Williams on violin, Arturo Ziraldo on viola, and Igor Cetkovic on cello, and the program promises classic carols, festive favorites and an abundance of holiday spirit.

The Kalamazoo Symphony Orchestra previously brought their musical storybook “Last Stop on Market Street” to Tibbits as part of the summer 2025 Popcorn Theatre season.

Both events will be held at the historic Tibbits Opera House, located at 14 S. Hanchett Street, in Coldwater, Michigan. Tickets to the Kalamazoo Symphony Orchestra Holiday Concert, featuring the Burdick-Thorne String Quartet range from $10 to $25, including fees. Tickets can be purchased online at Tibbits.org, over the phone by calling 517-278-6029,  or at the Tibbits Administrative Office at 93 W. Chicago St., in Coldwater.

From its opening in 1882, Tibbits Opera House has brought touring artists to the community of Coldwater, Michigan, and continues that tradition nearly a century and a half later with musicals, plays, concerts, cultural events, movies and more, in service to arts lovers of all ages.
