Tibbits Opera House is set to dazzle audiences with its jam-packed 2024 Summer Theatre lineup, promising fun for all ages. From June 7 to August 3, audiences will immerse themselves in a series of exciting and diverse productions brought to life by Tibbits’ professional Summer Theatre company members. From close-harmony groups to vengeful barbers, magicians to puppeteers, there will be something for every taste.
The season kicks off with “Forever Plaid”, a delightful musical revue running from June 13-15 and 19-22, guaranteed to have audiences bopping along to 1950s and 60s hits. Next up, from June 27-29 and July 3, 5-6, Tibbits will take attendees on a journey of revenge and dark humor with “Sweeney Todd.” The iconic rock musical “Rent” follows, with performances from July 11-13 and 17-20, offering a powerful story of love and resilience. Wrapping up the season is “Over the River and Through the Woods”, a heartwarming comedy about family, running from July 25-27, July 31 through August 1-3.
For younger audiences and the young at heart, the Popcorn Theatre series delivers family-friendly fun every Friday and Saturday at 10 am from June 7 through August 3. The series opens with “The Emperor's New Clothes” on June 7, 8, 14 and 15. The comedic production will be followed by “Rumpelstiltskin” on June 21, 22, 28 and 29. Next up, Magician John Shango will perform mind-bending illusions and disappearing acts on July 5 and 6. Following this, on July 12 and 13, Kevin Kammeraad will offer a unique blend of puppetry and interactive entertainment. Then “Pooh Corner” will take center stage on July 19, 20, 26 and 27. Closing out the season on August 2 and 3 is a special screening of Disney's animated movie, “Frozen.”
Additionally, Tibbits will offer a Theatre Workshop for kids from July 7 to 13, led and supported by Tibbits Summer Theatre’s professional company members. This hands-on workshop provides children an introduction to acting, stagecraft, and performance, culminating in a showcase for family and friends.
