Make this Sunday, the day you motor on out to Allegan for the Allegan Antiques Market. It’s a rain or shine affair, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and promises to be a day of one-of-a-kind inspirational shopping. If you’ve never been to “One of the Ten Best Shows in America, be prepared for antique, primitive, vintage and shabby chic collectibles on steroids!! It doesn’t matter what treasure or piece of art, or architectural inspiration, or industrial showpiece you are looking for, you’re likely to find it at the Allegan Fairgrounds where hundreds of dealers are on-site, both inside and out. Admission is only $ 5.00 and parking is always free. This popular antique market ends for the season in September, so don’t miss out on all those amazing treasures you just can’t live without.
Blandford Nature Center - Felted Turtles Craft with Firefly Studios Class August 28, 5:30 - 8:30 p.m. - and Farm Flower Bouquets; 6:00 - 7:30 p.m.
Forget the weekends, because there is loads of fun on Wednesday evening at Blandford Nature Center. Mark your calendar for August 28th, for two different classes that promise to get your creative juices flowing. First, join Firefly Studios for a needle felting fiber art event from 5:30 - 8:00 p.m. and create a small adorable turtle from your own hands, a needle and swatches of wool. Examples and demonstrations of techniques along with plenty of wool will be provided. Fees range from $38.00 to $ 45.00 and registered children must be accompanied by a registered adult. Or if harvesting and arranging flowers is more your thing, there will be plenty of gorgeous flowers to choose from on the Blandford Farm. This class will supply you with all the tools, including the vessel to create your very own beautiful centerpiece and the fee is $20.00 for members and $25.00 for non members. Michigan Wine Company, August 24, 3:00 p.m. and August 31, 4:00-6:00 p.m.
The Michigan Wine Company is a jewel of a vineyard tucked away in pretty Fennville where a husband and wife team focus on growing sustainably grown grapes and cider specific apples. From there they transform them into award-winning small batch wines and ciders that evoke a sense of place and emotion, and they love nothing more than sharing their experiences and vineyards with private tours and tastings, which you can book online. Be sure to stop in and discover these delicious estate wines by the glass, or a sample of four for $12.00 and if you stop by at 3:00 p.m. tomorrow you’ll be able to enjoy your wine with live acoustic guitar music in the vineyards. There will also be Jazz in the Vines on August 31st, from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. Reservations are not necessary, but seating is limited, so you can call and reserve your spot if you like.
