Dust off your pearls and polish those wingtip shoes because Muskegon is going back in time. The Hackley and Hume Historic Site invites the community to the Roaring 20s Tea on Saturday, June 20, 2026, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. This special afternoon blends local history, vintage fashion, and timeless tradition into one event.

Guests will enjoy a classic afternoon tea service with a 1920s flair, featuring a selection of teas, coffee, and lemonade, along with an assortment of sweet and savory treats. Tickets also include a 1920s-themed presentation and a guided tour of the Hackley and Hume Houses. Attendees are encouraged to dress in their best 1920s attire.

"There's something about putting on a string of pearls and stepping into these houses that makes the 1920s feel close enough to experience for themselves," said Hackley and Hume Historic Site Director Erin Schmitz. "The Roaring 20s Tea is one of our favorite events of the year because it invites people to be part of the history, not just observe it. Between the tea, the presentation, and the tour, guests really get to spend an afternoon in another era."

Constructed in 1887-1889, the Hackley and Hume Houses reflect the prosperity of Muskegon's lumber era and stand as striking examples of Queen Anne-style architecture. The site has been carefully preserved to showcase the original craftsmanship, decor, and daily life of two of Muskegon's most influential families.

Tickets are $20 for non-members, $15 for members, and $12 for children under 12. Space is limited, and advance registration is encouraged. Reserve your spot today at zeffy.com/en-US/ticketing/roaring-20s-tea-event-2.

Guests should check in at the City Barn (carriage house) located behind the Hackley and Hume Historic Site. Free parking is available on Webster Avenue and 6th Street.
