Experience a timeless game in a historic setting as the Hackley and Hume Historic Site presents “Whist-ing with the Humes”! For the first time, guests are invited to enjoy a friendly 60-minute tournament of Whist, the classic card game that paved the way for Euchre.
This special event will take place inside the elegant Hume Dining Room, where players will compete in friendly matches. Whether you're a seasoned player or new to the game, this unique gathering promises fun and excitement for all. Guests are also encouraged to embrace the spirit of the 1920s by wearing vintage-inspired attire!
In addition to the tournament, attendees will have the opportunity to tour the stunning Hume House, one of Muskegon’s most treasured historic homes. Built in the late 1880s by architect David S. Hopkins, the home offers a glimpse into the lives of the prominent Hackley and Hume families, who played a vital role in the city's lumber era.
The event will run from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. on March 22, providing a perfect afternoon of entertainment and history. Admission is $5 per person or $8 per pair. Check-in can be done at the City Barn (carriage house) behind the Historic Site. Space is limited, so reserve your place today at bit.ly/Whisting!
Don’t miss this opportunity to test your skills, enjoy the charm of the Hume House, and immerse yourself in history.
