The Saugatuck Douglas Area Convention and Visitors Bureau (SDACVB) is excited to announce                                                                                    that its board of directors has voted unanimously to increase
its financial support for the much-anticipated annual Douglas Halloween Parade. Now
celebrating its 26th year. This beloved community event, which has become a hallmark of local
celebration, will receive a total of $15,871.00 in funding—an increase from the initial request of
$10,000 made by parade director, Erin Wilkinson.

The board recognizes the Halloween Parade’s tremendous value to the Saugatuck-Douglas
area, drawing visitors and engaging the community in a spirited, adult-oriented event. The
increased support reflects the board’s appreciation for the planning and resources required to
ensure the parade's continued success.

The funding will cover critical expenses from local services, with the board directly paying the
following entities:

● Douglas Police Department: $1,628.00
● Michigan State Police: $6,458.00
● Saugatuck Fire Department: $2,025.00
● Douglas Department of Public Works: $5,760.00

“We are thrilled to continue our collaboration on this event, which brings Halloween fun to both
residents and visitors,” said Lisa Mize, Executive Director of the SDACVB. “The board’s
unanimous decision demonstrates our shared commitment to work with other organizations to
help support memorable experiences that benefit our entire community. I’d like to extend my
thanks to Erin, and to everyone who attended yesterday’s board meeting to provide insight into
the parade’s expenses. The board’s understanding of these costs was essential in their
decision-making.”

The SDACVB is eager to see the positive impact this increased support will provide to help
ensure the safety, organization, and overall enjoyment of the parade for all participants, which
attracted an estimated 15,000 people o Douglas and the surrounding area last year.
