Get ready for unforgettable adventures at John Ball Zoo’s summer camps that provide a unique opportunity for children to explore wildlife, learn about conservation and have fun with animals.

Registration is open for Zoo members, and non-members can sign up starting at 8 a.m. on Saturday, March 8. During John Ball Zoo summer camps, children are guided by experienced educators and immersed in the wonders of the natural world through engaging educational programs designed to foster a love of wildlife and conservation.

“The team at John Ball Zoo is thrilled to welcome new and returning campers to Zoo Camp, a place where children can connect with nature, discover amazing animal habitats and participate in hands-on activities,” said Rhiannon Mulligan, director of conservation and education at the Zoo. “No matter their age, children will come away with an appreciation for wildlife and wild places, which we always hope to foster for our visitors.”

Camps are available for 3-year-olds through children in ninth grade. Camps are designed for the grade a child will be entering in fall 2025.

The youngest campers will take part in sensory activities, outdoor exploration and a variety of sessions that allow safe interaction with animals. Elementary students will explore the sounds of animals, journey through the adjacent greenspace to track turtles and frogs or unleash their inner artists. Older campers get to see Zoo operations and the science of wildlife biology, tracking animals and learning what it takes to be a zookeeper. Visit the Zoo’s website for a listing of the various activities and sessions for all ages.

Four-day, half-day camps are available, as well as two-day, full-day camps. Enrollment is limited, and John Ball Zoo encourages those interested to register as soon as possible when registration opens. John Ball Zoo members have the earliest admission and also receive a discounted camp fee.
