The Muskegon Heritage Museum of Business and Industry will host its June Community Day on Saturday, June 6, with the spotlight on trucking — the industry that has moved Muskegon's goods, and the goods of the businesses Muskegon built, for more than a century.
Admission is free, and the museum will be open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 561 W. Western Ave. in downtown Muskegon. The event is part of the museum's 2026 Community Days series, presented by Verplank, which opens the doors free to the public on one Saturday each month from May through October. Each month explores a different mode of transportation that shaped Muskegon County's growth.
June's Community Day is sponsored by Hines Corporation and Swanson Pickle Co. Both are longtime Muskegon-area businesses whose work has depended on the trucks, drivers, and routes that connect West Michigan to the rest of the country.
"Muskegon's story has always been shaped by how people and goods moved through it. These community days bring that story to life. There's a difference between reading about our history and standing next to the machines and photos that built it. Opening our doors for free means every family in Muskegon can experience it firsthand," said Kirk Bunke, Site Manager of the Muskegon Heritage Museum of Business and Industry.
